Hey, hello autumn
Well, I cannot help but be a little disappointed in our British summer this year, but sadly that is all behind us now. The delights of a new season with its rich autumnal hues are nothing short of spectacular and although I am sad to see the passing of summer, these next few weeks will be filled with the most picturesque landscape, making a striking seasonal transition.
And with the change of the season, comes a change of fashion palette too. This year’s key on-trend colours pay homage to the seasonal changes, to take a look at the Pantone fashion colours trending for the autumn/winter 2021-2022 click here.
The art of Colour in fashion
Colour analysis in fashion terms is not a new concept by any means, many would even challenge its validity as something we should be governed by, but when presented with the hard evidence, there is no denying that some colours really do work so much better against different skin tones and hair shades. Many say the experience of a colour analysis session is life-changing, and it will most certainly guarantee a reduction in the purchase of unsuitable clothing, and in this day and age of reducing consumer waste, it would certainly seem worth giving it a go.
Although, I am not a fan of the strict policy of solely sticking to a select band of colours when it comes to accessories. I do not slavishly disregard certain colours and shades because the experts have told me to…but with some of the new season colours not being in my palette, I think I would find them particularly hard to work into my wardrobe.
So, here’s the deal, it does not mean that I should not indulge in a little on-trend colour occasionally…far from it! However, it does mean that I simply have to be a little savvier when it comes to making clothing and accessory choices. For example, if the colour of the season does not suit me but I love it, then instead of wearing it as a clothing choice, I should carefully accessorise to give a splash of seasonal colour without the result of me looking terribly pale and pasty!
Yay, thank goodness for the classics…
The one thing that does make a real difference to the success of dressing with colour, are all those wonderful, underestimated classic colours that sit silently in the wardrobe. Patiently waiting to be pulled out to bring an outfit seamlessly together. Where would we be without such wonderful workhorses?
Although shades can vary slightly each season, the core classics seem to stay as true as ever. It is just a case of selecting the most appropriate shade to give you your best look.
If you do decide to take the plunge and book a colour consultation I would recommend choosing a reputable well-known company such as Colour Me Beautiful, a recognised, international leader in the colour, image and styling for both men and women.
Good luck if you decide to take the plunge, I don’t think you will regret it!
